Geek Goddesses

Laura Mennell - Nina Theroux, Alphas

Laura has a long history of brief stints on sci-fi shows. She has shown up on Millennium, Sanctuary, Andromeda, Stargate: Atlantis, Stargate: SG1, Dead Like Me, The 4400, Eureka, Fringe and Supernatural. She even played two different characters on Smallville and was the Bound Woman in the film Thir13en Ghosts. With all of that, most people will still recognize her as Janey Slater, the first wife of Doctor Manhattan in Watchmen. Her break at stardom however, came as the super-powered wild girl in reform, Nina on Alphas. Her character has had a bumpy road to say the least; she’s good, then bad, then good again, then maybe bad… nah good. But regardless of whether we’re being “pushed” or not, she has us at her beck and call. That’s one of the perks of being a geek goddess.

Felicia has been on Geekesses before, but we had to get some more of her, specifically to mark today’s special events. In case you’re not in the know, The Guild season 6 kicks off today. If you need to catch up, you can see the previous seasons on Netflix or you can catch them on Felicia’s Youtube channel Geek & Sundry, which has a ton of other awesome shows too, like Sword & Laser (a book club and discussion show), Table Top (Wil Wheaton’s board game show) and Felicia’s video blog, The Flog. Geek and Sundry is also where you can see all the new episodes of the Guild, so stop wasting time and click here!

Kandyse McClure - Agnes, Alphas

Every sci-fi nerd knows Kandyse McClure. We know her of course as Lt. Anastasia Dualla on Battlestar Galactica. While stealing our hearts as Dualla, she was also seen with recurring roles in Reaper, Sanctuary and Persons Unknown. Most recently she got everyone’s pulse racing as the sexy and sultry Agnes on Alphas. The evil alpha with a heart of gold, eh? I have a feeling we are going to be seeing a lot more of Agnes as time goes by and legions of nerds couldn’t be happier for it.

Azita Ghanizada - Rachel Pirzad, Alphas

She made her big debut in a recurring role in daytime soaps, but she didn’t steal our attention until we saw her as the super sensory alpha named Rachel. This woman is seriously sexy, a trait that tends to stay hidden on Alphas. She’s the good girl and Nina is the sultry mistress. Seeing these pictures makes me giddy for the day Alphas lets this little minx out of her cage.

Noomi Rapace -  Elizabeth Shaw, Prometheus

Noomi first got our attention while playing punk rock bad ass Lisbeth Sander in the original Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series. She has since gone on to be in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and will be staring in the Prometheus sequel. This girl is seriously stunning and I can’t wait to see “more” of her.

Katee Sackhoff - Captain Kara “Starbuck” Thrace, Battlestar Galactica

Katee Sackhoff is one of those special rarities in sci-fi/fantasy, in that she became a icon of sexy, not by playing the feminine damsel in distress, but by playing the tomboyesque bad ass in Battlestar Galactica. She could hold her own in any situation, toss you a smile and leave you in a puddle of goo from how hot she was doing it. Katee also lent her playful voice to some awesome animations and games, cranking her geek status to 11. She voiced She-Hulk in the Super Hero Squad Show, Grrrl in Futurama, Black Cat in the Spiderman: Edge of Time video game, and Bo-Katan in Star Wars: the Clone Wars. If you blinked you’d catch her as a regular on the short lived Bionic Woman remake (lasted one season) and she’s set to enter the genre again this year with a role in the as of yet unnamed sequel to Chronicles of Riddick

I have but one request. Someone, somewhere, make a Powergirl movie and cast Katee in the lead role. Then we can all die happy.

Who is this lady? Well I think many of you will be hard pressed to recognize Gwendoline Christie in these photos, looking gorgeous. Most of us know here has The Beauty, Maid of Tarth or simply Brienne. That’s right, this is the hulking “homely” she-warrior from Game of Thrones. Now think of these images everytime you see this on screen.

This is… I… I don’t know if I could handle that. I’m willing to try though.

Amy Acker - “Fred” Burkle, Angel
Amy Acker is one of those beautiful girls that will show up in your nerd show sooner or later. She’s a Whedon vet having been in both Angel and Dollhouse, and she can be seen in Grimm, Supernatural and Alias. She won my heart in Dollhouse though (as Dr. Saunders a.k.a. Whiskey) and I turn into a giddy idiot everytime she is on my tv now. This girl is a serious nerd beauty.

Felicia Day - Codex, The Guild
She is the ultimate nerd dream. In everything from her own show to a recurring role in Eureka, repeat characters on Supernatural and Dollhouse and video games such as Guild Wars 2 and Fallout: New Vegas. On the mountain of Geek Goddesses, there is truly none higher than Felicia Day.
